48 years ago a miracle of taste was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. What began with a small restaurant and a big idea has become a worldwide success story that now includes Switzerland.

Founded in 1972, Popeyes® looks back on more than 40 years of history and culinary tradition. We owe our beginnings to the entrepreneur and gastronomic pioneer Al Copeland. He had a small restaurant – and a great idea: Copeland introduced the New Orleans style fried chicken, making the brand known worldwide.

The culinary heritage of Popeyes® is based on the diverse Creole and Cajun cuisine, which is rich in tradition, spices and flavours – the unmistakable taste of Louisiana. We continually draw on this heritage and celebrate it to create new, authentic dishes that people crave.

Popeyes® is distinguished by a unique New Orleans style offering: Spicy chicken, tenders and other regional delicacies. These high-quality delicacies have enabled Popeyes® to become one of the world’s largest chicken fast food restaurants, with over 2,700 restaurants in the USA and around the world. In 2020 Popeyes® opened its first restaurant in Switzerland in Oerlikon.
